IZA CAMARILLO
As Research Director for the Global Trade Watch division at Public Citizen, Iza Camarillo leads high-impact research and policy advocacy on international trade, investment disputes, and sustainable economic policies. She provides strategic analysis and thought leadership on trade agreements, corporate accountability, and investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS) mechanisms.
Iza’s expertise in international trade law, ISDS, and regulatory compliance positions her as a leading voice in progressive trade advocacy, bridging legal scholarship with actionable policy solutions.
Iza is an active member of the international legal community, serving as a guest lecturer on international trade law and a contributor to policy discussions at institutions such as the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR). She has also participated in congressional briefings and stakeholder consultations on trade and investment policies affecting Latin America.
Iza earned her law degrees in the United States and Mexico. She pursued a Master’s in Law from Georgetown University Law Center, where she was a Salzburg Cutler fellow for research on the intersection of human rights, international trade, and corporate accountability.
Prior to joining public interest policy advocacy, Iza practiced law at top-tier international firms where she focused on cross-border trade, investment disputes, and international trade compliance. She has extensive experience navigating the complexities of global supply chains, regulatory frameworks, and trade policy developments, particularly in Latin America.
